Sharing the Road: A storytelling workshop and performance with Naomi Steinberg

Naomi Steinberg is a gifted artist and storyteller. She has over 18 years’ experience performing traditional folk and fairytales with diverse communities, and has a special love for epic tales of adventure, love, and transformation. Most recently, Naomi voyaged around the Earth without taking an airplane. She told her hand-spun story, Goosefeather, wherever she went, and is now writing a book about the experience: www.goosefeather.ca

During workshops (eg: in schools, theatres, forests, festivals, conferences), Naomi focuses on both solo and group processes. Participant participants work with a classic fairytale or folktale as Naomi leads the group through exercises that integrate movement and contemplation, clowning and vocal dynamics, into the storytelling process. Naomi believes that to work deeply with a story is to embark on a journey of discovery and play.

Friday Performance 7-8pm $10-$15 sliding scale

Saturday Workshop 10am-1pm $65

Or attend both workshop and performance for $70

Ancestoral Healing-One Day Workshop with Shauna Janz

By coming into conscious and direct relationship with our deeply well ancestors, we connect with a source of guidance, support and love in our lives and contribute to the healing of inter-generational wounds and patterns. When we claim our ancestral gifts and inheritance, we deepen our belonging in the world, re-enliven our ancestral wisdom and practices, become clearer in our soul's purpose, and become a more wholesome force for personal and collective healing.

Many of us have not grown up within a tradition of active ancestral connection and tending, and this may be the case for many generations in our lineage due to historical events and disruptions (migrations, war, displacement, colonialism etc). Good news is that there are ways to reclaim this connection, to ensure our ancestors are deeply well, to fully inhabit the gifts of our lineages while healing the traumas, and to reconnect with our specific heritage and practices.

Through teaching, ritual, and guided trance/visioning, participants will assess the wellness of their ancestral lineages and connect with ancestral guidance.

November 30th, 2019

10am-5pm @ The Doghouse Yoga, 1690 Carron Rd, Courtenay, BC

Cost: $125 (by email transfer or Paypal). Receipt of payment confirms attendance. Three spots are open for sliding scale for folks who have less access to resources. Please email to inquire.

Ennegram Workshop with Carly Forest

Sometimes, despite our best efforts and intentions and regardless of how much we practice, we find ourselves coming up against patterns of behaviour and relating that keep us at a distance from ourselves and those we’re in relationship with. The Enneagram offers a clear path through the confusion.

The Enneagram is 9-sided symbol used to represent the spectrum of possible personality types. This subtle and nuanced system offers a powerful map of the ways in which our unique personality can both enrich and hinder our evolution.

This workshop will focus on the foundations of the Enneagram and how you can start using this map to deepen your understanding of yourself and your patterns of behaviour. During our time together we will explore the Enneagram both theoretically and experientially through writing, inquiry work and meditative practice.

Registration through Carly at info@carlyforest.com

TRE Release Workshop with Meghan Gorosh

TRE Release Workshop with Meghan Gorosh

Anxious. Stressed out. Overwhelmed.   Exhausted. These words are all too common adjectives to describe how we feel on a daily basis. Life is
stressful, but that reality doesn’t have to control you.

TRE® (tension and trauma releasing exercises) is an innovative approach to managing and mitigating the effects of stress in your body and in your life. Whether we realize it or not, stress is something that impacts every one of us on a daily basis. Our bodies weren’t designed to live with the chronic and sometimes toxic stress that so many of us carry.
In this workshop, you will learn a set of 7 gentle and adaptable exercises that can be modified to support every body type and ability, to elicit an intentional and self controlled therapeutic muscular tremor, deep in the core of the body.
Similar to the way animals shake off stress, this tremor reflex seeks out and gently vibrates open deeply held patterns of tension in the muscle tissue and fascia of the body, while
naturally quieting and re-regulating the nervous system.
The tremor originates in the brain-stem, the part of the brain that regulates autonomic body functions, and does not involve the emotional or thinking brain, so even historic patterns of trauma and stress can be safely and gently released without re-triggering painful memories. Essentially TRE® allows the body to do this processing for us.
TRE® is accessible and easy to learn. Most people find it easy to integrate TRE® into
their lives, and more importantly, derive benefit from it almost immediately. Empower yourself with your own biology, and take your health and wellness into your own hands!

*This workshop is intended to empower participants in a self directed practice of TRE, and is not education on teaching this practice to others*
